DAILY GEM 6

Infiltrating the gloom to add a bit of sparkle to your day!
Providing a little distraction from loo roll hunting, endless queues and lets be honest the anxiety of our situation.

LET'S MAKE JEWELLERY TOGETHER.
Jewellery made at home, from the things we have at home.

There's much evidence that creativity helps us to relax and improves mental health.  So if you are feeling a bit stressed and anxious about the current situation, switch off the news, turn off social media and give yourself an hour or two to be creative.

Initially I was planning to post free beading kits out to you, but the logistics of doing this whilst staying home and practicing social distancing is a little tricky.  So we are going to take a more 'Recycled' jewellery approach instead of 'Fine' jewellery approach.

For example I made this...

What can you use at home?

This weekend have a look around the home and think about what you could potentially use. I can guarantee you will start to look at materials very differently.  A sponge, egg box, string, beer cans and the caps off wine bottles you'll be drinking this weekend will never look the same again. Not to mention loo rolls!  Also see what you have in the way of scissors, scalpel, staples, pliers, cutters, tape etc which will help cut and fix everything together.

Materials at home to make jewellery with

This is what I've collected in 5 minutes of rummaging through a few draws: paperclips, bulldog clips, disposable plastic cups, post-it notes, elastic bands, ribbon, buttons, loo roll (of course), press studs, hooks and eyes and a Prosecco cork (I suspect there will be at least one more joining that after the weekend).  For some reason I have a ridiculous amount of disposable plastic cups, so I think I will make a necklace or brooch with them...

Let's get creating on Tuesday at 7.00pm.
Join me on Zoom with a glass of Prosecco for half an hour to kick start our creativity. We can look at the materials we've collected and chat through ideas. We can then reconvene a few days later to see what we have all created!

If you haven't used Zoom before, simply download the free app to your computer or phone, and then click this link

Be creative, stay home and stay well everyone!
